1st day in DXB |
D,
4 Feb :
Told Fidel about my solo experience and managed to catch some sleep for an hour or two. Soon it was breakfast. Al maklum..halalkan, sumbat macam nak rak! There's this concoction called Power Station - a mixture of fruit juices served in test tubes. Fidel was making sure with the hotel staff that the arrangements for the bosses arrival & stay would turn out smoothly. Alma, had been here for less than a year. She was residing in Hong Kong & Singapore is her favourite destination for holiday. Within minutes we were talking like old girlfriends. Then came the Malay Singaporean staff, Anuar, who initially helped Fidel out with the hotel reservations. He had made arrangement to take us out for dinner. Wow!!! I guess when you meet your very own orang kampung, you just feel so happy giler!
Fidel left for meeting & I sat alone at the lobby waiting for Pai. Heh....tak agak-agak janji dgn aku nak jumper pagi....tup tup, I ended waiting for more than an hour laa. Tak ley salahkan dia, pasal dia ponG kurang tido. Then traffic jam from her place to the hotel. Off......shopping to an area called Naif Rd - ala Tekka gitulaa.
That's where you shop for arbaya, materials & lots of other stuff. The key word - BARGAIN!!!!! I was one happy bunny hopping from 1 shop to another! I saw a side road food joint & of course being the kiasu tourist, I didn't want to miss the food! We had tall glasses of pure cold mango juice & 3 pieces of falafel. hm...time flew so fast. Baru 1 tempat shopping dah petang! We made a stop at a local supermarket - a trip I love to make. Waduh-waduh!!!! The laban (yogurt) like the ones sold in Mekah & Madinah ada kat sini beb!!!!! Beli berkotak-kotak macam tak cukup. Silap haribulan, 1 supermarket aku beli! At 1 corner, ada counter jual cinnamon rolls. I refused to buy but Pai insisted that I try. Sanggup dia belikan, memang tak nyesal laa.....so sodap one!!!!! I'm one true blue jakon-ese. Heh..barulah pecah-tembelang! Pai dah tak sanggup tengok kegilaan yg terpendam dlm diriku..kekekekeke!!!!!!! Nie baru 1st day.
Pai sent me back to the hotel in the late afternoon & we met again for dinner. Pai & boss (her dh) have known Anuar for quite a while. Anuar is a real chatter. Kaklar abiz berbual dgn Anuar..ketawa sampai pecah perut. He brought us to Noshi Noshi. Nama Jepun-ese tapi makanan orang S'pura. Yg masak, yg layan, mostly owang Melayu Singapura. Sedap pulak rasanya. Sempatlah bertukar khabar dgn kengkawan baru. Yg tinggal Woodlans, Marsiling. Sempat aku tanya - bila u all nak balek kampong?? Ada yg jawab - summer time, sini kan panas. Suka tol jorang bila dapat tau orang kampong datang DXB!!!!
Anuar left us to do some errands. Boss drove us around town. Dapat amek gambar Burj Al Arab di waktu malam. Actually aku dah kenyang banget..tapi kan members ajak dok minum kopi, so they brought us to Mina a salam. Waduh- duh!!!! The hotel's so grand. Terbeliak mata, ternganga mulut si jakon-ese nie! Tol macam rusa masok kampong! Masok ajer kat lobby dah bau bukhr..mak oi wangi nyer!!!!! Aku rasa macam melayang di awang-awangan. The whole scene was just perfect.
